Case Study: Enhanced STS Brake System at Shanghai Mingdong Container Terminal

09 December 2025

Shanghai Mingdong Container Terminal sought to upgrade the brake systems on its Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes. The original braking equipment had become outdated, required frequent maintenance, and posed increasing operational risks. To ensure safer, more efficient crane operations, the terminal initiated a retrofit project focused on improving brake reliability and reducing maintenance workload.

Retrofit Solution & Key Benefits

Our team delivered a comprehensive brake system transformation, resulting in more stable, efficient, and environmentally friendly crane operations.

Optimized Performance
  • Improved Alignment and Centering: Ensures even wear of components and consistent braking performance.
  • Enhanced Braking Efficiency: Provides stronger stopping power and improved operational stability of the cranes.
  • Energy Conservation & Environmental Protection: The integration of BUEL H and BUEL G units - featuring biodegradable hydraulic oil - allows the brakes to remain automatically open when idle, reducing energy consumption.
